My Story
Hi, my name is Susan Campbell. Your life is crazy busy, and I am here to show you how you can do safe and effective fat loss workouts at home, anytime with minimal or no equipment. It can be done!

Back in The Day
I grew up in a small town about 30 minutes north of Albany, NY. I was a long and lanky kid and spent much of my childhood from the second I woke up until the time I had to go to sleep outside running around and playing with the neighborhood kids. I remember getting in bed at night and my legs would throb from the beating I gave them that day. But I just went back outside and did it all over again the next day. I loved it.
Some of the things we spent the majority of our time doing was riding our bikes, playing basketball, and having neighborhood wide hide and seek games. I truly loved those times and am still in touch with the many of the kids I hung around with.
My Athletic Background
I started playing basketball and softball on school and town teams in fifth grade. I loved every second of it and learned a lot about life, team play and competition. By the time I was in 9th grade I was on both the Varsity basketball and softball teams. However, due to an injury I sustained late in high school, I was unable to play either of these sports competitively after high school.
Therefore, during college I was forced to try to find more “lifetime” sports to participate in. I enjoyed swimming and I started playing golf even though I was, and still am, horrible at it. I spent a lot of time working out in the gym. I used every cardio machine out there, tried all the strength training equipment and used free weights.
In my mid twenties I took up running as a past time, a way to challenge myself, and, to a lesser degree, a way to get into better shape. In 2004, a friend and I trained and completed a 15K race called the Utica Boilermaker. To this day, completing this race is one of my proudest accomplishments. The picture below shows us crossing the finish line and is truly priceless to me. What a day!

In recent years I have also picked up hiking as a past time. I absolutely love the challenge of a high peak and the way my thoughts get lost along the way. There are few things more therapeutic than a really great day, a challenging climb where your mind wanders and touches on thousands of both relative and inconsequential topics, and a rewarding view at the top. Here is Scott, Buddy, and I in Lake Placid on the summit of Phelps. Tabletop and Mt. Marcy are in the background.
Also, in my spare time I love to read, watch movies, kayak, and snowshoe. Scott also has me doing some crazy things these days. Check out the pic of me on the sled!

My Education and Certification
I wanted to learn more about the body and how it operated so I went to college at SUNY Cortland where I majored in Exercise Physiology. When I graduated in 1998, I immediately went to work in the Corporate Health Center of one of the areas largest businesses. My duties included performing fit testing and prescribing exercise programs for gym members. During this time I became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
I loved helping people meet their fitness goals, however, after about 4 months it was no longer a challenge to me and I longed for more information and knowledge. So, I headed to grad school after only being there for a little over 1 year.
I received my Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology in 2001 from the University at Buffalo. Here I studied more in depth about muscle anatomy and physiology. I was a Teaching Assistant and began to discover that I enjoyed sharing my knowledge with others. I also worked in the student fitness center, where I guided many students towards their fitness goals. It was during this time that I really began to understand what worked and what didn’t. What traditionally is thought to result in fat loss, wasn’t necessarily working and other things I began trying with people were working! Suddenly, people started seeking me out to help them achieve the fat loss they desired.
How This Site Came About
PhysioLogix and WorkoutsForHome.com was born one dark winter’s night at the conclusion of a workout at the local gym. A few of my close friends and I use the gym as a pretty large social aspect of our lives during the winter. We all try to go at the same time, get in a great workout, and catch up on the day’s events. I love that time with my friends!
One of my friends had been organizing a local 5K race for charity of which she includes an auction for goods or services she could get donated. She knew I had been focused on efficient fat loss workouts that can be done at home, anytime, with little or no equipment so she asked if I would donate a workout package to her auction. And just like that, PhysioLogixand then WorkoutsForHome.com had materialized. Over the next several months, I worked very hard at getting this site up and running to I could get you the necessary information you need to be lose fat, get strong, and stay healthy and motivated.
